How are your candles made?

The wax used to produce our candles is sourced from 100% natural US-grown soybeans, is free of additives, and is certified vegan and kosher. Soy candles burn cleaner and longer than other waxes. The wicks we use are 100% cotton. Natural fragrances used in our products are extracted from plants and/or flowers, synthetic fragrances are created using man-made materials. They are all produced in accordance with the International Fragrance Association guidelines and both wax and fragrances are Leaping Bunny certified (never tested on animals). Our candles are hand poured in small batches, ensuring a quality product! Labels, jars and packaging used in our products are made of recycled and/or eco-friendly materials. We strive to provide our customers a product they can feel good about using in their homes and around their families/pets!

How long do your candles burn?

Our 12 oz candles can burn for between 60 and 84 hours. Our wax melts’ fragrance lasts an average of 10 hours per melt.

how can i get the most out of my rescuewicks candle?

Our 100% cotton wicks will arrive trimmed to approximately 1/4” but it’s a good idea to trim them to 1/4” after each burn session if needed. Allow the candle to burn for 3-4 hour intervals, or until a full melt pool has formed to avoid pitting around the wick and allow for an even burn every time. If you are experiencing black soot on the inside of your candle, excessing flame flickering or smoking, your wick is too long. A correctly trimmed wick will allow for a safer, longer burn.

How are soy candles different?

It’s important to remember that Rescuewicks candles are made of premium soy wax, which is a soft wax. It isn’t uncommon for soy wax to have rough spots after your first burn. Many candlemakers prevent this by adding beeswax or paraffin wax to their soy candles which don’t burn as cleanly, but Rescuewicks does not! Your candle will still burn evenly without harsh additives, dyes, and chemicals.

WHAT safety measures do you recommend when using your candles?

An open flame warning label is included on all Rescuewicks products. To prevent fire and serious injury, burn candle within sight. Keep away from drafts and vibrations. Keep candles and wax melt apparatuses out of reach of children and pets. Keep candle wicks trimmed to 1/4” at all times. Never burn candle near anything that can catch fire. Keep wax free of debris. Only burn candles on a level, fire resistant surface. Do not burn candle down to the bottom of the jar, as too much heat with little wax can cause a jar to shatter.

How do I get the last remaining wax out of my jar so I can repurpose it?

An easy way to get the last bit of remaining wax out of your jar is to run the jar under hot water and use a spoon to scoop out the remaining wax. Where does my 20% donation go?

Rescuewicks donates 20% of all sales to 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organizations in good standing with the IRS in order to help further their life-saving efforts. Donations are disbursed on a quarterly basis. You can see the organizations enrolled with Rescuewicks or get your organization involved by visiting our rescue impact page.

what’s the deal with shipping?

We ship everything using USPS and offer Ground, Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express options. Rates are calculated directly by USPS based on product weight and size. You’ll notice that oftentimes, it is cheaper to select Priority Mail than Ground but that just means that you’ll get your orders quicker!

what is your return policy?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase along with receipt or proof of purchase. We cannot accept return of any used products. We are happy to work with our customers to fix any issues with orders, especially in relation to damaged goods during transit. Visit our policies page to learn more.
